Get To know your Robot

iAdapt Responsive Cleaning Technology
When you see Roomba, Scooba or Dirt Dog making their way under and past furniture, going around plants and finding their way out of a confined area, that’s iAdapt technology in action. iAdapt is an advanced system of software and sensors that allows Roomba, Scooba and Dirt Dog to clean more of your room, more thoroughly, getting into areas you can’t easily reach.
With iAdapt Technology, our robots select from dozens of robotic behaviors more than 60 times per second to optimize coverage of every section of your room, making multiple passes over the same area. This adaptive cleaning technology is what works best in the real world, where dirt doesn’t fall in regimented rows and a bed skirt isn’t the ultimate roadblock for dust. Our robots clean the way you would–thoroughly and efficiently.

Batteries
One of the first things you’ll notice about Roomba, Scooba and Dirt Dog is how they autonomously move around, eagerly doing their job without the need for a power cord. All of our robots, except for the Verro Pool Cleaning Robot, are battery powered. And just like other battery-powered products you might have, like a cell phone or cordless drill, your robot battery needs to be charged regularly and properly maintained. Becoming a happy robot owner also means becoming a responsible battery owner, so please read through this section to learn all the ins and outs of proper battery care.
Simple Tips To Help Your Robot’s Battery Last Longer
  • Use your robot frequently.
  • In the case of Roomba, clean the brushes and empty the vacuum bin every 1-3 cleaning cycles.
  • Keep your robot charging when not in use.
  • Always allow the robot to charge uninterrupted until the charging light turns solid green.
  • Place your robot and the Home Base (if equipped) on a smooth, hard surface when your robot is charging.
  • Charge your robot in a cool, dry place.
  • For long-term storage, remove the fully charged battery from the robot and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Fully charge the robot’s battery at least once every six months for optimal performance.
Proper Storage
If you will not be using your robot for more than a few weeks, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Storage instructions for specific robots and batteries can be found on our customer service site. When you want to use your robot again, insert the battery and fully charge it. Batteries can naturally degrade even when stored outside the robot. Fully charge your battery at least once every six months for optimal performance.
Regular Robot Maintenance
Because our robots are actual home appliances, there are maintenance functions that need to be performed to keep them cleaning at their best. For example, for Roomba you’ll want to empty the bin every 1-3 cycles and make sure you get the remaining hair and debris off of Roomba’s brushes. For Scooba, make sure the tanks, brush, filter and vacuum port are clean after each use. Similar common sense steps are required for all of our cleaning robots. Do these simple things and our robots will be happy to work for you for a long time.
Official iRobot Parts & Accessories
It is critical that you use only authentic iRobot replacement parts and accessories for your robot. Many products seem like they originate from iRobot, but unauthorized parts and accessories are often counterfeit or badly designed and/or poorly reconditioned items. Unauthorized parts and accessories may damage your robot and will not be covered by the limited warranty.
